Rishikesh is well connected by road from Delhi (National Capital). Total distance is 235 kms by road. Normally it takes 06 to 07 hrs drive from Delhi to Rishikesh. On long weekends this route will have traffic. March to June month all weekends will have traffic. Delhi to Rishikesh taxi will cost INR 6000 all inclusive for comfortable AC Indigo type car.

To reach Rishikesh you can also use bus service from Uttarakhand Govt. For Rishikesh there are two places in Delhi where you will get bus to Rishikesh Anand Vihar and Kashmere Gate. Normal bus will take 8 hrs drive while volvo bus will take 7 hrs to reach Rishikesh from Delhi. Volvo bus you will get only from Kashmere Gate. Volvo bus fare is INR 800 per person. Ordinary non ac bus will cost you INR 350 per person. AC push back bus will cost you INR 500 to 600.

Rishikesh railway station is linked to all cities in India. There are regular train facilities from Rishikesh to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Dehradun and Kotdwar. It's best to take the train to Haridwar as Haridwar is serviced by many trains from to Delhi, Varanasi, Rajasthan, Amritsar, etc. and continue by bus (45 min), by taxi (30 mins or by shared auto-rickshaw (40 min)). Travelling by train comes recommended because they often run empty and the fares are low & run right-time especially in peak seasons or "Melas" (Fares) when bus routes are diverted in Haridwar & share rickshaws try to make a killing. You can take "Vikrams" towards Lakshman Jhula from Rishikesh station.

Rishikesh is just 20 kms far from Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. Dehradun Airport is well connected to Delhi & Mumbai. Dehradun Airport is domestic airport so there is no international flights are here. Air India, Jet Airways & Spice Jet has regular flights to Dehradun. There is also one flight from Mumbai to Dehradun daily by Jet Airways. Apart from Delhi & Mumbai there is also direct flight from Lucknow which is only 3 times in week (Tue, Thu & Sat). For flight from other big cities such as Banglore, chennai or Kolkata you can book connecting flight which has stop at Delhi.
